I have donated a framed 12X16 single pet portrait ($400 value) to the Humane Society of Kent County, Md. They are selling raffle tickets for $5.00 each. The drawing will be held December 1, 2010. I will do an oil painting of the winner's pet from a photo. If you have an interest, please send me an email at brittanyartstudio@gmail.com with your name, address, and number of tickets. - Photos can be emailed or sent by USPS.
- After receiving the photos I will contact you by phone or email to discuss the best picture to use.
- A 25% nonrefundable deposit is required (check or money order).
- When the portrait is complete I will email a picture of the painting for your approval.
- After receipt of balance due, I will pack and ship the painting.
- Prices include shipping within the continental United States.
- Shipping outside of continental United States will be extra.
- Portraits are painted with water based oils on stretched canvas.
- For use of my art for anything other than the original intent, written permission must be obtained from the artist.
- The artist retains reproduction and copyrights for all artwork.

Photo Information

I paint all pet portraits from photographs. You can email or USPS mail as many photos or CD’s as you like. I will contact you by email (or phone if you like) to discuss which photo to use.
Your pet pictures if possible should be taken outside with good natural light. You should try to take the photos on the same level as your pet. Pictures can be taken at different distances but some should be fairly close with good detail. Front and three quarter (between front and profile) shots are good. Flash photos are OK but pictures with red eye caused by flash are not easy to work with. The eyes are a very important part of the portrait.

Good photos make good portraits.

I will return all photos or CD’s with the painting.

About the Artist

I was born in Delaware and have resided on the Delmarva Peninsula my whole life. The Delmarva Peninsula separates the Delaware and Chesapeake Bays and is located in the Atlantic Flyway. I currently live near Massey, Maryland.

I have always liked outdoor sports. Until about 5 years ago I hunted, fished, shot sporting clays, and participated in competition 3D archery. Now, I am involved in the Federal Conservation Reserve Program and have planted warm season grass fields and built shallow water wildlife ponds. These ponds, fields, and the surrounding woodlands allow me to observe and photograph wildlife and waterfowl.

Eight years ago I discovered painting. My artistic interest has mainly centered on painting portraits of dogs and people. I have worked with Pastels, Acrylic, Watercolor, and most recently water based oil paints
Even though I consider myself to be self taught, I have taken portrait and figure workshops. Two friends who have influenced and inspired me most are artist/teacher Cindy Bowers Fulton (cbowersfulton.com) and portrait artist/teacher Roberta Carter Clark.

I have had a lifelong fondness for sporting dogs. I especially like Brittany’s. Artists are inspired by different subjects or events. Dogs inspire me most. I try to understand the personality of the dog. In my paintings, I make an effort not only to present an exact likeness but more importantly to accurately portray their personality.
